After spending just one afternoon with Wayne Kim and his staff at a Kinder Kids'
location, I felt like I had found the proverbial pearl inside the
oyster! Kim's story is of a father who was not satisfied with
the choice of English-speaking preschools for his own
children. In the past three years, Kinder Kids has grown
from one location to six. What is the secret of their success?
Well, for starters, flexibility. Kinder Kids is a
completely English-speaking preschool and kindergarten with optional
full-time daycare. The program is year-round with an emphasis
on early education using a theme-based curriculum. The monthly
themes include weekly mini-themes with daily crafts and
vocabulary-supported reading materials. the music is even
designed to include new vocabulary word to the tunes of familiar
songs.
Each class has at least one native English-speaking
teacher. There are several different locations to choose
from. your child could attend one specified day per week, up
to five. Or you can choose three-day floating plan if you
desire flexibility. the lesson time (short-day plan) is from
10:00 to 14:00, depending on age and location, and it is a different
fee from the full-time 08:00 to 18:00 daycare. If you choose
the short-day plan, you can extend your time and pay a reasonable
30-minute interval fee if you find yourself in need of a little
extra time one day. there are even options for afternoon
(after school) and Saturday classes.
A second key to the Kinder Kids success is their Australian- and
British-based curriculum. I If you are familiar with Britain's
famous "Letter land" curriculum, you will be happy to see
Clever Cat and Golden girl smiling at you from the walls.
Otherwise, you can be assured that there's a healthy balance of the three
Rs: Reading Writing and Arithmetic.
Most of the locations include a gymnastics class and an outdoor
play area. For the kinder ages, there are computers in
the classrooms. Besides the educational software, there are
future plans to link up through the internet to preschools in
Australia. You can even choose between a catered lunch, or
bring your own lunch from home.
Although all of the above information is impressive, you must
visit to experience the dedication of Wayne Kim and his staff.
this is one of the few family-run businesses left in our world of
corporations and mergers. Each location, with the exception of
one, was established to accommodate family members, children and
each location is truly part of the Kinder Kids family.
Kinder Kids' aim is to provide quality , inclusive education in a
warm and caring environment to children from all
nationalities. the ultimate goal is to ready the children for
the local international schools or prepare them to return to schools
in western countries; academically being either at the appropriate
age/grade level, or even slightly advanced.
